XDeep backplate is available in aluminium or 3mm stainless steel.

Aluminium backplates are generally preferred by wetsuit or traveling divers due to their light weight while steel backplates, averaging 2.5 kg in weight, are generally preferred by dry suit divers.

The weight of the backplate is evenly distributed on the divers back and reduces the amount of lead weight that needs to be carried on the weight belt.

The backplates are identical in size but made out of different material with weight differences.
