Guy Maito is one of the most formidable jonin of the village of Konoha and the great rival of Kakashi the Copy Ninja. He is a Taijutsu specialist, a discipline he has elevated to an art form.

Guy’s love for Taijutsu stems from his father, Dai, who was also a master in hand-to-hand combat. Guy trained tirelessly to impress his father, although his father was only a genin. Guy felt frustrated that his father was mocked by other Konoha ninjas who disrespected his limited combat skills.

Fearing that his son might be weak in ninjutsu or genjutsu and remain a genin his entire life, Dai decided to teach him the technique of opening the Eight Inner Gates, with the sole condition that he would only use it to protect what he holds dearest.

The values his father instilled in Guy forged his Nindo, which he managed to pass on to his students, particularly to Lee, to whom he taught the opening of the Eight Inner Gates.

Guy is one of the most powerful ninjas in Konoha, whose reputation reached even Itachi, who referred to him as “very powerful and dangerous,” and Madara even granted him the title of “the strongest Taijutsu user in history”enough said.
