Shanks the Red (Akagami no Shankusu), is the captain of the Red Crew and one of the Four Emperors. He is also a former member of the legendary Roger’s Pirate Crew, the only group to successfully conquer the Grand Line.

He is the pirate who inspired Luffy in his journey as a pirate. He recovered the Gomu Gomu no Mi that was stolen from a World Government ship, and was later accidentally eaten by Luffy.
